In 2001, Susan Azlin started a garden club at Alice N. Stroud Elementary School in Modesto.  Since it's inception, many classrooms have shared in the responsibility of taking care of the gardens.  The Modesto Garden club gave the school a $150 grant that was matched by Susan's husband.  Susan has raised over $3,500 in grants and donations and has educated over 400 students.  The school  garden has a butterfly garden, tropical garden, edible garden and a greeting planter that graces the front of the school.  Stroud's garden has been featured in the Modesto Bee 4 times in the past 6 years.
