Connie Severtsen is the Garden Coordinator. She had this to say, "This is the first year for the school garden club, which started at the beginning of the school year. The garden club consists of Kindergarten through sixth grade participants. Sometimes kids refuse to leave the garden until club time is over, so their parents end up helping. Grant funds and local nurseries have been generous in providing assistance.  
The school has an 8’x8’ shed, a variety of hand tools, a wheel-barrow, and lumber for six 10’x3’ garden boxes. The club is creating new garden boxes and cleaning up the existing garden!

So far lessons have been taught in composting, planting, plant and weed identification, insects, seed identification, sharing, the importance of team work, and building group moral support. 

I enjoy the enthusiasm of the students and their eagerness to learn and help in the garden.
